(Staten Island, N.Y.) A German Shepherd has died due to the coronavirus. He was the first dog in the United States to contract COVID-19, according to National Geographic.

The Mahoneys from State Island said Buddy, the 6- year old family dog, died back on July 11.

Buddy started to have breathing issues back in April. He also lost weight and became lethargic. He was given heart medications, steroids, and other medical antibiotics. On May 15, Buddy was tested for COVID-19.

FDA warns against potentially toxic hand sanitizers

The Food and Drug Administration has advised the public not to use nine hand sanitizers that can cause poisoning and harmful health effects.

In a statement on Friday, the FDA warned consumers not to purchase hand sanitizer manufactured by Eskbiochem SA de CV in Mexico.

Elderly home care in Brazil came up with the idea of a "hug tunnel" that allows loved ones to hug residents during the coronavirus.

A staff member of the Três Figueiras facility in the state of Rio Grande do Sul suggested the idea after noticing residents feeling down.

Santa Clara County gets approved by the state to reopen more business on July 13

On Tuesday, the state of California approved Santa Clara County's variance application to reopen more businesses.

In a statement, the California Department of Public Health announced Santa Clara County businesses must follow the County Risk Reduction Order that goes into effect on July 13.

High risk- establishments are not allowed to open. Social distancing and masks are still required. Groups of 20 can gather indoors, and groups up to 60 can gather outside.

Multiple stores nationwide are requiring its customers to wear a mask, and this week Dollar Tree and Family Dollar are reversing that decision.

97,000 children test positive for coronavirus as schools plan to reopen

Schools around the country are reopening for the fall semester, a recent report shows children can easily contract the coronavirus.
